3:32p JT a saint, Paris Hilton a douche-canoe cheapskate: who are the top celeb philanthropists?

In December, a month in which 62 percent of Americans are planning to support charities for the Holiday season, The Daily Beast undertook an extensive study on the effects of celebrity on charities. Looking at the 50 biggest celebrities allied with a nonprofit, either as a member of its board or advisory committee, an ambassador, or the face of a campaign, The Daily Beast tallied how much awareness they produced for their favored nonprofit in print, television, and online, and also calculated any personal donations to the charity, since cash is the most direct impact of all.
Using VMS and BurellesLuce, media-monitoring firms, along with Lexis-Nexis and Google search results, The Daily Beast compiled and attributed value to media mentions.
The Top Ten: #1, Justin Timberlake, Annual Impact: $9,262,381 #2, Madonna, Annual Impact: $5,540,068 #3, Pamela Anderson, Annual Impact: $4,840,168 #4, Oprah Winfrey, Annual Impact: $3,973,870 #5, Bono, Annual Impact: $3,598,313 #6, Angelina Jolie, Annual Impact: $3,015,070 #7, Rihanna, Annual Impact: $2,305,743 #8, George Clooney, Annual Impact: $2,184,500 #9, Salma Hayek, Annual Impact: $1,620,959 #10, Shakira, Annual Impact: $1,284,431 At the Bottom: #50, Paris Hilton, Annual Impact: $538 #49, Robert De Niro, Annual Impact: $7,527 #48, Hilary Duff, Annual Impact: $16,800 #47, Celine Dion, Annual Impact: $30,366 #46, Jerry Seinfeld, Annual Impact: $60,036

The entire list can be found at the second source, as well as the charities they are involved with. Also, the amount listed is a breakdown of 4 categories: TV, Print, Internet, and Personal donations.

3:21p Everyone hates Jordan!!

Peter Andre has pipped former wife Jordan a.k.a Katie Price to bag the hero of 2009 title in a survey. The Aussie singer beat fellow divorcee Jo Wood, followed by X Factor winner Leona Lewis to win the celebrity of the year crown.
Jordan, on the other hand, was named voted the most hated celebrity in Britain as she topped the annual poll of the celebrity Villains of 2009. The glamour girl was trailed by supermodel Kate Moss, drug addict Amy Winehouse and disgraced rapper Kanye West in the survey headed by Virgin Media.
"After 12 months of controversial celeb highs and lows, it's interesting for us to let the public have their say," the Daily Star quoted Alison Davis from Virgin Media, as saying. "It's obvious with the opposing leaders, Katie and Peter, both securing landslide victories, that public interest in their saga is still strong," Media added.
idgi, Jordan is super classy, right?

1:59p Druid mount "etiquette" ?
This issue has come up a lot for me and I'm curious as to what your opinions are.
The other day in H UP (a cross-realm random) the blue proto-drake dropped from Skadi. I was stoked since I collect mounts on my druid. We all rolled Need on it and lo and behold, I won it! I squealed a little bit in chat saying that I only needed a few more mounts to get my 100 achievement. One guy congratulated me, but the other 3 people were like "wow way to ninja the mount u noob" and dropped group. I was speechless...the only thing I can think of is they were mad because I rolled on a flying mount as a druid.
Honestly, this annoys me to no end. Just because I have flight form doesn't mean I *like* using it. Why shouldn't I be able to have pretty mounts just like everyone else? It's not like anyone else truly *needed* the mount, either, so what makes it different for me as a druid? I've gotten yelled at for rolling on the bronze drake in CoS too, and a former guildie was -- get this -- REPORTED for "ninja'ing" the Sarth+3 mount in a pug, when all he did was roll need on it like everyone else. They were mad because he was a druid.
What do you ladies think about this issue? I truly wasn't trying to make anyone angry, but I don't understand this anger against druids rolling on mounts. It really frustrates me.

2:47p When Lady Gaga Appears, So Do Her Many Influences

IN a year when retailing flat-lined, when a flailing economy sent creative types scurrying for aesthetic foxholes, when the most indelible fashion image was of a dead man’s sequin glove, a single unlikely figure raised the flag for style and its power to confound, bewitch and amuse.
( very tl;dr, but interesting. Bolded some for the teeldeer crowd )

So, I finally got dragged into Halls of Stone on lfg. And mildly had a heart attack. I've never healed that, and the fact I was finally in Ulduar...I was mildly having a squee moment. Since I had never healed (or seen, for that matter) for this place, I politely let everyone know.
Amazingly, everyone was fine. The only question was from the tank. 'How well do you feel about your healing abilities?' Which my answer went 'Confidant'
....the tank then went and chainpulled about three groups of mobs. We got to the Maiden of Grief like that, me running behind because the tank was chainpulling through the ENTIRE instance with a new healer. When we finally killed her, I kindly asked if he could slow down just a touch cause it was giving me a heart attack. The response that came was 'well, I've done this about 4 times now, just trying to make it a bit more fun.' that got a quick response of 'then make it more fun without a new healer trying to heal your candy ass :P '
Everyone laughed, even the pally.
So, thank you Mrs. Pally. I love you. Since I got used to Northrend instances, I've been looking for a challenge to test my healing. And other than the warlock dying twice within 2 minutes and the enhance shammy dying on the Maiden....we had no wipes and you did not die, my candied ass tank. Thank you for a beautiful and informative run on perhaps the most awe inspiring instance I've ever run. :)

10:54a Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all, and good tidings for all men (and women). Have a great holiday, and try to abstain from flamewars. Spend time with family, friends, and be joyous!
